Say goodbye to bloating and intestinal gas: here are the best positions to relieve discomfort

1. Cat-Cow Pose

The Cat-Cow pose is a foundational yoga movement that promotes gentle abdominal massage and enhances digestive function. To perform it, start on your hands and knees with your wrists aligned under your shoulders and knees under your hips.

As you inhale, allow your stomach to drop toward the floor, lifting your head and tailbone upward—this is the “Cow” position. Then, on the exhale, round your spine toward the ceiling by tucking your chin to your chest and drawing your belly upward—this is the “Cat” position. Repeat this fluid movement several times.

This sequence helps stimulate peristalsis, the wave-like muscle contractions that move food and gas through the intestines, making it easier to release trapped gas and reduce bloating.

2. Frog Pose

The Frog pose is another yoga posture known for its ability to relieve abdominal discomfort by opening up the hips and relaxing the lower abdomen. Begin by kneeling on the floor, then widen your knees as far apart as is comfortable while keeping your feet in line with your knees.

Lean forward, resting your forearms on the ground with your elbows beneath your shoulders. Maintain a straight back and breathe deeply, focusing on relaxing the abdominal muscles. This position increases pressure on the lower abdomen, encouraging the release of intestinal gas.

The deep breathing combined with the stretch can also alleviate tension that may contribute to digestive discomfort.
