Dizziness described as light-headedness, unsteadiness, or balance difficulties has been reported by some patients taking atorvastatin. This effect is especially concerning in older adults because it increases the risk of falls and related injuries.

Since dizziness can result from multiple causes including dehydration, low blood pressure, inner ear disorders, or other medications, persistent dizziness should be medically evaluated to identify the underlying reason and ensure safe management.

7. Headache

Headaches may occur during atorvastatin treatment. Mild, occasional headaches are usually not alarming and may not require a change in therapy.

However, if a headache is new, severe, persistent, or accompanied by neurological symptoms such as vision changes, weakness, or confusion, it requires prompt medical assessment to exclude serious causes.

8. Digestive Problems

Gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, heartburn, and gas can occur with atorvastatin use. These symptoms may be bothersome but are often mild and transient.

If digestive symptoms develop after starting atorvastatin and persist or worsen, discuss them with your healthcare provider. They can evaluate whether the medication is the cause or if other digestive conditions are involved.
