3. Hair Clarification
For removing buildup from styling products, mix one teaspoon of baking soda into your regular shampoo. Massage the mixture into wet hair, leave it on for about one minute, then rinse thoroughly. Follow with a conditioner to replenish moisture.
Baking soda’s alkaline nature helps break down residues, leaving hair feeling lighter and shinier. Use this treatment no more than once a week to avoid drying out your scalp or hair strands. Avoid on color-treated or chemically processed hair, as it can strip color.
4. Soothe Itchy Skin
Add one cup of baking soda to a warm bath and soak for 15 to 20 minutes. This can help calm itchy or irritated skin by neutralizing acids and reducing inflammation, offering relief especially during seasonal dryness or after sun exposure.
Do not use baking soda baths if you have open wounds or infections, as it can irritate damaged skin. Rinse off gently after the soak and pat skin dry to avoid further irritation.
5. Clean Makeup Brushes
Combine baking soda with mild liquid soap in warm water. Swirl your makeup brushes in this solution, gently rubbing bristles to remove makeup residue and oils. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and lay flat to dry.
Regular cleaning prevents bacteria buildup and improves makeup application. Avoid soaking brushes with wooden handles for extended periods to prevent damage. Clean brushes weekly for best hygiene.
